Innocent, ethereal in her rare beauty, Audrey Hepburn stood alone among the actresses of her time. Into the abundance of voluptuous American girls came this gamine with an enchanting Anglo-European accent. With her big eyes, long neck, demure smile, melodious voice and perfect wardrobe, that aura of an angel on earth, she dazzled moviegoers for decades and in her later years also worked hard as a special ambassador for UNICEF.

She was glamorous, charming and elegant–a true style icon. The pearls and black dresses, the french twist and winged eye-liner, caring for others before herself and always finding something to laugh and be merry about–she was an inspiration.

This weekend we honor Audrey Hepburn who died in 1993 of cancer. She would be 83 on May 20. May Holly Golightly live on forever. Happy Birthday, Audrey!

What are your favorite Audrey Hepburn movies? Mine are Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Roman Holiday.

Stationary is one of my favorite things. So when I found Simply b I knew I just had to share this fabulous find with all of you. I met Mary, owner of Simply b, when I was looking for invitations for Brooks’ birthday. Love social media- one link to the next and I found the perfect person to customize my birthday invites. For my middle man’s recent big day we celebrated with a good old-fashioned backyard BBQ but kicked it up a knotch with a fabulous dessert table dressed by Simply b. Using custom invitations created by Mary as inspiration we carried the theme throughout with adorable favor tags, cute cupcake toppers, a Brooks’ banner and personalized thank you cards.

Isn’t she amazing? I love that I could work with Simply b to create EXACTLY what I wanted rather than having to select from stock options. She has an eye for detail and knows just how to translate a client’s vision into paper reality. And… she can design almost anything- birth announcements for a new little one or monogrammed stationary for a house warming gift. Simply b will work with you to personalize Save-The-Date cards for an upcoming wedding or create beautiful custom wall art that will be cherished for years to come! She just recently released “Simply Baby Month Stickers”- they are the cutest of the bunch and as a mom she recognizes we document our little one’s growth by month until age 2 so she has “Older Baby Stickers” – perfect compliment to a new baby gift for the older sibling.

So, with no further ado, please meet Mary (in her own words): ”I’ve always been the consumer who has dreamed up the idea/design of what I’m looking for, and then wondered why the stores didn’t carry it?! After struggling to find the PERFECT first birthday theme for our daughter, I decided if I can’t find it, I will make it!! I want Simply b to be the business where people can truly get get custom pieces and not feel they have to choose from the “shelf” of available options. From the design, to the colors, to the weight and texture of the paper, if you want it, I want to be able to provide it for you.”

Thank you Simply b for beautiful custom invitations & thank you notes + speedy turnaround + local delivery service!  You have certainly become my go-to destination for personalized party papers and so much more!

For your next party, let Simply b simplify the event for you with custom paper accessories or a fabulous gift!

I have a weakness for bean burgers and have to order them pretty much every time I go out to eat at a pub or a place that makes them homemade. I have been experimenting with recipes at home and think I finally have it. The flavors of the burger itself are truly enhanced with the right accoutrements- fresh basil leaves, red ripe tomatos and creamy cool avocado. I loosely followed this recipe from Whole Foods. I skipped the yellow onion altogether and the hot sauce, on the kids’ burgers. I added the red onion right into the burger and held the basil to use on top which pronounced the fresh flavor. Yum!
